Sample reading section

What work am I actually here to do?

A real reading section answering the vocation question that careers don't answer: "I've done well, but it's never felt like the thing. Is there a calling I'm missing, or is 'calling' something I made up?" The chart can't give a job title - but it can show the structural pattern of work that consistently rewards you, the kind of contribution that fits, and why some careers feel hollow even when they look right from outside.

Section 3 · Vocation

Q · What work am I actually here to do?

"I've done well in my career but it's never felt like the thing. I keep wondering if there's a calling I'm missing, or if 'calling' is something I made up."

Short answer

Your vocation isn't a single profession - it's a function: you are here to translate between worlds that don't naturally speak to each other. Whatever job you hold, the part of it that feels like the thing will always be the translation work. The part that feels hollow will be everything else, even when "everything else" is the official job description.

You didn't make calling up. You just defined it too narrowly. The chart's idea of calling is closer to a verb than a noun.
